Norscot Truck & Van Ltd Aberdeen hosted a “Customer Evening” on the 21st of September at the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford Aberdeenshire. DAF’s Marketing Director Tony Pain gave a talk on the haulage industry and highlighted the changes in the market over the last 50 years he also spoke in detail about future legislation and challenges that operators and manufacturers will need to meet. Some very interesting facts were revealed. One of the most surprising was that contrary to public perception there are actually less trucks on the road today than there was 70 years ago (although the total weight of goods transported has grown five fold).
Grampian Transport Museum, Norscot and DAF trucks provided some interesting vehicles for customers to see. The XF105 Safety Demonstrator was in prominent display alongside GTM’s Scottish built 1912 Halley truck. DAF displayed their Prototype hybrid LF45 7.5t fitted with factory built box body which was fitted with a Perspex floor so the drive train was visible.
After the formal part of the evening drinks and refreshments were provided. While the refreshments were enjoyed model trucks in local hauliers livery were displayed. The evening was declared as a resounding success.
