Management

George Barrack, Dealer Principal & Managing Director

George is our Dealer Principal and Managing Director. He’s been involved in the transport industry his whole life. Previously as a Dealer Principal for Mercedes Benz on the car side, he moved into trucks when he bought Norscot Truck & Van in 1999. You could say trucks and the motor industry are in his blood as his father, grandfather and great grandfather have all been involved in the industry in some way or another.

In his spare time he can be found following the Formula 1 calendar or getting stuck in with the restoration of the family’s collection of steam engines.

Holly Barrack, Group After Sales Manager

It shouldn’t come as any surprise knowing the history of the haulage industry in the family that Holly is George’s eldest daughter and joined the business in 2016. Having always voiced an interest in joining the business the time seemed right after six years working in the oil and gas industry. Since joining Norscot she’s taken on the role of Group After Sales Manager working in close conjunction with the service and parts team in each of our Depots.

Holly’s previous job took her around the world spending time in Houston, Switzerland and two years in Orlando, Florida.

Michael Anderson, Sales Development Manager

Michael joined the Norscot Team in 2019 as Sales Development Manager. The Transport Industry has been a long held interest of his and this gave him an opportunity to work in Truck Sales. With support from the experienced team he’s working with customers to meet their specific DAF requirements.

At home he’s kept busy with the family and is also involved in organising and showing at Steam & Vintage Events.

Gary Mitchell, Group Operations Manager

Contact Gary

Gary joined Norscot in 2015 as Group Operations Manager and has brought his years of Financial Director experience to Norscot. He’s been pivitol in ensuring we stay up-to-date with new software and assisted with the implementation of our new operating system (Power) in 2016.

Gary spends his time away from work with his lovely family and can occasionally be found out in the woods on his bike.

Part Sales

Richard Forbes, Parts Manager

Contact Richard

After serving his time as a car mechanic, Richard moved into the parts side of both Car and Commercial vehicles, working previously with motors factors in Aberdeen before moving to Norscot Truck & Van 11 years ago to be Parts Manager for the MAN Franchise.

Outside interests include watching football and occasional game of golf.

Martin Taylor, Sales Representative

Martin has been in sales since leaving college. He started off in tailoring then moved on to car sales. Then in 2013 he made the move to the commercial side and started working for Norscot Truck & Van parts team as an outside sales representative for Aberdeen.

Outside of work Martin is a section leader for his local Scout group and takes part in kick boxing training.

Shane Merriman, Sales Representative, Inverness

Shane was a professional show-jumper until his late 20s before moving into the plant hire & construction industry where he worked with civil and drainage merchant John Davidson Pipes Ltd for 12 years gaining experience in various roles from internal/external sales - area manager covering Scotland. He joined Norscot Truck and Van in 2019 as Parts Sales Rep covering our Highlands and Islands region.

In his spare time he is involved in coaching riders and producing young horses imported from Europe and following Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC.

Dundee/Perth

Ian McGregor, General Manager

Contact Ian

Ian is the General Manager for our Dundee and Perth Depots. He has never known anything else apart from trucks due to a family haulage firm. He started his apprenticeship 1989 and worked with Leyland/DAF all working life up to his current role of General Manager. He loves his job with Norscot as everyday brings something new and challenging. Trucks and recoveries run through his blood.

At home time is spent with his wife and kids but is also a keen football coach and was a very keen motorcyclist prior to kids but looking to get back into it.

David Halcrow, Parts Manager, Perth

Contact David

David has been in parts since leaving school in 2005, starting in the LCV field before moving to the car side. Then in 2018 made the move to HGVs starting with Norscot Truck & Van parts team as a Parts Advisor, mobing in to the Parts Manager role in 2022.

Outside of work David spends most of his time with my family and watchiing Hibernian FC.

Paul Anderson, Workshop Foreman, Perth

Paul started with us as an apprentice mechanic summer 2005 and since then has progressed through the workshop to Master Technician and chargehand before being promoted to Foreman. You'll not find many other technicians who have more DAF experience than Paul.

Paul is also a very experienced heavy recovery operator, who loves nothing better than a good burn out.

Paul is a follower of the race scene at Crail and loves a good classic car which he has his own which is a Vauxhall Chevette, which he lovingly restored from ground up several years ago.

Ian Campbell, Workshop Foreman, Dundee

Ian started as an apprentice back in 1985 in a haulage company and stayed for 13 years! Following this he worked for a fleet company from 1997 working on any make of vehicle for 10 years. In 2007 Ian made the move to DAF Trucks in Durham as a night shift manager for 9 years then in January 2015 he relocated to sunny Dundee and started for Norscot, taking on the role of Workshop Foreman in 2018. He’s been involved with trucks since leaving school and couldn’t think of anything else he’d do now.

In his spare time used to teach kids football but now prefers to follow Formula 1 and a more leisurely game of golf.

Adam Mill, Parts Manager, Dundee

Adam started with the company as a parts apprentice in June 2014 and since joining Norscot he has enjoyed learning all roles of the job and gaining knowledge in DAF Trucks.

Now being Parts Manager it's something that Adam has always wanted to do since his arrival at Norscot.

In his spare time he enjoys a game of golf and following Dundee united whenever he can.

Scott Presley, Body and Paint Manager, Perth

Scott joined Norscot in April 2020 following the opening of Norscot Body and Paint, he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Scott is passionate about body work and has inspired the younger generation with his 4 year old daughter sharing his love of trucks.

Along with his wife and daughter, Scott likes to go out walking and spend quality time together as a family.

Ivor Stewart, Key Account Manager

Ivor joined the Norscot Sales team in Aberdeen as Key Account Manager back in July 2010. He has been in the commercial vehicle industry since leaving school as a sixteen year old to serve his time at the Harper Motor Company, the Ford commercial vehicle Dealer in Bucksburn on the outskirts of Aberdeen. He spent fourteen years at Harpers before moving to the Mercedes-Benz truck dealer Northside Truck Centre on the South side of the city in 1996 as Heavy Truck Sales Specialist where he quickly became popular & highly respected within the heavy truck industry. Joining Norscot in 2010, Ivor is responsible for DAF heavy truck sales in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire & the Highlands, including Orkney & the Western Isles & continues to build on Norscot’s renowned reputation for customer sales & after sales.

You may not have guessed it after two hip replacements but Ivor was a professional footballer in his day and still enjoys taking his son to games at the weekends.

Gordon Ewen, Sales Executive

Gordon started with Norscot in August 2021.

An experienced Salesman most recently in the field of Oil & Gas Decommissioning Services.

He was born and brought up in Aberdeenshire with a background in farming but gaining experience in Civil Engineering, Quarries & Plant & Machinery.

Away from work he’s kept busy with the family or working outside with tractors and diggers.

Aberdeen - DAF

Stuart Dunbar, Service Manager

Stuart is our Aberdeen DAF Service Manager. He’s been in the motor trade since leaving school in 1985 and has worked with both cars & trucks. Through the years he has gained a lot of experience with posts ranging from Service Receptionist & Administrator, to Workshop Controller through to his recent promotion to Service Manager. He has always been fascinated with how mechanical & electronic items work which has been beneficial to his career.

He is married with 2 children and in his spare time likes to keep fit by hiking as many of the Scottish mountains as time (& his wife) allows.

Willie Forsyth, Parts Operations Manager

Willie is the Aberdeen Parts Operations Manager. Willie joined Norscot in 1987 after the merger between DAF and Leyland. Prior to the merger Willie worked for the Leyland dealer for 12 years joining as a parts apprentice in the summer of 1975.

In his spare time he is a supporter of Aberdeen Football club watching them through their various highs and lows.

Tom Sutherland, Workshop Manager

Tommy is our Aberdeen DAF Workshop Manager. He’s been in the motor trade all of his working life and has been with Norscot for over 30 years. He is respected in the industry and is well known to many for his truck recovery skills.

His life revolves around his family & work and in his free time likes to socialise with friends over a few pints.

Aberdeen - Altens

Jamie Miller, General Manager

Contact Jamie

Jamie is the General Manager at the MAN site in Altens. He joined Norscot as a technician at our DAF site back in 2004 having serving his time on buses and coaches. He gained experience within our branch both doing heavy recovery work and in the workshop whilst gaining DAFs highest award of Master Technician before transferring to Altens with ambition for development there.

In Jamie’s spare time he is normally in the gym, playing football or at Pittodrie ever hopeful for a win.

Harold Jarinas, Workshop Manager

Contact Harold

Harold joined Norscot in 2011 as an HGV mechanic. In 2014 he moved to the oil and gas industry as an offshore engineer, which took him all over the world. He returned to Norscot in 2019, briefly as a mechanic until he moved into the role of Workshop Manager.

In his spare time, Harold is kept busy by his two young daughters and likes hiking Bennachie with his family or going to the beach.

Colin Keenan, Parts Manager

Colin has been working in the motor trade since 1976. He served his time as a parts apprentice with SMT the Bedford truck dealer in Edinburgh, then moving to James Bowen & sons the ERF agent in 1984. Colin joined MAN Aberdeen after moving to Aberdeen in 2001. He took on the role of Parts Manager in 2018.

Out with work he’s interested in organising car rallying events and occasionally navigates in local motor club events.

Richard Taylor, TGE Sales Executive

Richard Taylor is our TGE Sales Executive. He started with Norscot just before the launch of the MAN TGE LCV in 2017, his main task is to promote & sell the MAN TGE Panel Van & Chassis Cab & has grown the sales of the TGE to the extent that he was awarded Van Retail Executive of the Year 2019. Prior to 2015 he was employed in sales/purchasing/material control/auditing in the Oil Industry in Aberdeen for the majority of his working life.

In his spare time Richard enjoys going for hill walks with his wife & family, if he can get his grown up children to go, his funniest memory was at Loch Muick where after passing the old Queen Victoria Cottage they then had a car come up behind them, his wife turned to say can you not walk and was stopped dead because here was Camila driving along the road, first time he has seen her lost for words!

Inverness

Jim Mackintosh, General Manager

Contact Jim

Jim is our Inverness General Manager, He has been in the Transport industry most of his life with Managerial positions with BRS, Deep Freeze Supplies, Highland Haulage and Pegasus Express. He also lived and worked in New Zealand for two years in 2003.

Jim likes to keep fit and is also the “youngest” Norscot General Manager.

Wayne Smith, Workshop Manager

Wayne has had trucks in his blood from a young age - going with his father and uncle in their lorries to still being involved with them today. Wayne served his apprenticeship with Christian Salveson in Blairgowrie and worked with various haulage contractors over the years including some time with Mclaughlan Transport in Perth as a UK and European driver. In 2004 started with Norscot Inverness with the highlight of his career to date coming second in the prestigious DAF Trucks 2016 UK Technician of the year program. Since then he’s reveled in his new challenge as Workshop Manager.

In his spare time he loves spending time with his wife and dogs away in the caravan.

Grant Darnley, Parts Manager

Contact Grant

After deciding student life wasn’t for him and floating through some boring jobs for a few years, he entered the motor trade in 2009 as a novice partsman – logic, “I like cars” – moving to a Renault garage in 2011 and progressing through the ranks over the next decade. Grant joined Norscot in December 2021 as Parts Manager.

At lunchtime you’ll find him in the gym, this frees up the evenings and weekends for entertaining his son, doing something ill-advised on a mountain bike, or very slowly making something out of wood.
